GREAT CANADIAN SHORELINE CLEAN-UP
Raise awareness for the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean up, a program run by the Vancouver Aquarium.
smak created an intriguing art installation on Vancouver’s shorelines to generate public and media attention around the negative impact of shoreline garbage. Large, life-like sculptures, made of litter found on Canadian shorelines, represented aquatic life in their natural ecosystems, lakeshores and ocean beaches.
The installations generated national and international coverage in print, broadcast, and social media. Eco-blogs featured editorial pieces regarding the installations and the importance of the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean up for weeks to follow, creating longevity in social media banter.
